What Does The Entrepreneur Of The Future Look Like?

What Does The Entrepreneur Of The Future Look Like?

The past few days have been a brain-busting barrage of beautiful learnings.

This morning, the 6th Edition of Heavy Chef Foundation’s Research Report is live. The focus is on ‘Future Entrepreneurs’ and the findings are pretty awesome.

Yesterday afternoon, HCF’s board member Zinhle Novazi and CEO Louis Janse van Rensburg presented the findings to a packed room at Workshop17 in Sandton.

The spoiler alert is:

Entrepreneur education is about to get exciting. Very exciting.

Zinhle and Louis explained that, just like Web 1, 2 and 3, the world of entrepreneur learning is tracking neck-and-neck with the internet’s evolution.

Web 1 was about ‘one-to-many’ communication using HTML to create corporate and media web pages. Web 2 was about ‘many-to-many’ communication using self-publishing tools such as Blogger, WordPress, Facebook and Twitter. The dawn of Web 3 is about ‘many-to-one’ - i.e. decentralised data channels, owning your identity, security and blockchain.

Entrepreneur learning also has three stages, aligned with the internet’s phases of growth. Let’s call them EL1, 2 and 3 for now. Formal institutions (EL1) gave way to learning online (EL2) with tools such social media, YouTube and virtual learning channels like Zoom.

Now, HCF’s research reveals an enormous appetite by entrepreneurs to design and direct their own learning development identity - EL3.

What does this mean? - well, here are a few of my own predictions:

  • Entrepreneurs will have a digital learning identity, sorta like a validated certification of education.

  • Entrepreneurs online identities will be dynamic - in other words, they will update automatically according to an entrepreneur’s learning journey.

  • These online identities will be organized in a single cohesive view, showing a continual, updated learning status.

  • These identities will be able to unlock rewards and capital, automatically synching with partners who can fund and provide essential resources to entrepreneurs.

  • They will be decentralized and validated, living on the blockchain as non-fungible certificates.

At this stage, you may be thinking, ‘hey, this applies to all learning’.

You’d be correct. However, we’ll leave the nuances of broader education to organisations far less focused than ours.

If you’re interested in this stuff go check out the report now - and let us know what you think. As always, it’s free to download. Please share with your colleagues and communities at will.

Fun fact: the images in the report were all generated via AI algorithms.

Cool hey?

I know.

If you’d like to check out the event itself, featuring the incendiary smart Bron and Dion, there was an Insta live feed.

Check it here.

Highlights include:

  • The ‘great unravelling’ and the rise of the machines.

  • How AI is taking over the art world and just about everything else.

  • The validation of climate change.

  • The tyranny of facial recognition.

  • How TikTok is being used as a long-term weapon of geopolitical warfare. (This one is terrifying for parents, believe me!)

  • How Gen-Zs are saving the world.

  • The singularity is upon us.

  • The flatline/decline of population growth and the dire consequences of flagging birth-rates.

  • The skewing of dating politics, polyamory, and how AI women are replacing real women.

  • Sex in space (and the lack thereof).

  • The changing workforce, ‘life audits’ and the rise of corporate spiritual wellness.

  • How our expectations change our behaviour, and how that behaviour will change our future.

Yesterday was fun, fascinating and informative. On a personal note, it’s friggen awesome to see everyone back in the wild again after a few weird years. Shoutout to the Heavy Chef community for being so interactive and engaging.

We’re a crazy, diverse, humble and ambitious lot - and we’re going to change the world.

A very special mention to Rock and Shakira for overcoming their networking fears and introducing themselves to 3+ peeps in the audience. You’re both confirmed legends.

Flux will be launching their State We’re In report in a few weeks. Be sure to follow Dion and Bron’s progress - and in particular take a squiz at Flux’s Gen-Z deep-dive immersion tour in mid-2023.

Lastly, from me, Heavy Chef has two brand new entrepreneur community events coming up soon. Check out our event calendar here and book for either CPT or JHB. Be quick, as these tickets are flying fast.

See ya soon,

Peace -
